Moroccan style

It is a true bliss to be away from the European weather wintertime. Even more so when knowing that I do not have to return, and will probably not do so for a couple of years. New adventures are laid in front of me. West Africa today.. who knows where we'll end up tomorrow.

Just one of my favorite quotes from Shantaram:

“For this is what we do. Put one foot forward and then the other. Lift our eyes to the snarl and smile of the world once more. Think. Act. feel. Add our little consequence to the tides of good and evil that flood and drain the world. Drag our shadowed crosses into the hope of another night. Push our brave hearts into the promise of a new day. With love: the passionate search for truth other than our own. With longing: the pure, ineffable yearning to be saved. For so long as fate keeps waiting, we live on.“ - Gregory David Roberts

SEA IS CALLING

I find that the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand
as in what direction we are moving:
To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it -
but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.

LET IT STORM

"Gaze into the fire, into the clouds, and as soon as the inner voices begin to speak..surrender to them. Don't ask first whether it's permitted, or would please your teachers or father or some god. You will ruin yourself if you do that."

- Demian, Hermann Hesse 1919 -

What we are

"We know who we are and define what we are by references to the people
we love and our reasons for loving them."

- Shantaram, Gregory David Roberts, 2003 -

FREE LOVE

"Let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls."

Khalil Gibran from The Prophet, 1923.

WHAT IS FREEDOM

"Liberty is the possibility of doubting, of making a mistake.. of searching and experimenting.. of saying No to any authority - literary, artistic, philosophical, religious, social, and even political."

- Ignazio Silone, The God That Failed, 1950 -

MY FAVORITE

It is courage that counts."

ON MY MIND

For every meaningful chapter in life I had to close, I gained the double.
